Mayors of Catawba County Hold Panel Discussion
MSA employees attended the first “Inside the Metro” event of 2017 on Thursday, February 24th at the Chamber of Commerce. The event was hosted by the Hickory Young Professionals organization. There was a panel discussion which consisted of Mayor Shawn Brown from the City of Claremont, Mayor Pro Tempore Kyle Hayman from the City of Conover, Mayor Robert Smyre from the Town of Maiden, Mayor Anne Stedman from the City of Newton, and Mayor Rudy Wright from the City of Hickory. This was a very exciting event that focused on the progress and growth that has come to Catawba County over the past year and the things that are to come in the near future. There are several projects underway in each City/Town that will continue to increase the welfare of Catawba County residents. Each representative spoke about the importance of working together with each City/Town to help the County reach its full potential. Also addressed, was the importance of getting our young professionals more involved in the decision making processes. We have a civic duty to be engaged in our communities whether it is by attending a Council meeting, becoming a member of a volunteer board/organization that sparks your passion, supporting local businesses or opening a winery or brewery in one of our cities! There are several ways to become more active in your community and a great starting place would be to join Hickory Young Professionals.
