Martin Starnes & Associates is pleased to share highlights from the recent Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Spring Conference, held in March at the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem, NC. We proudly supported the event as a silver sponsor, underscoring our commitment to the public sector and finance community.
Our Senior Manager, Ko Tang Cha-Moses, represented the firm at the conference, balancing a packed agenda with continuing professional education (CPE) opportunities. Ko Tang shared, “Attending these conferences is always a standout experience for me. It provides a unique setting to reconnect with past and present clients and potentially meet future ones. It’s refreshing to interact in a setting outside the usual office environment. Moreover, meeting the faces behind the vendors our clients work with adds a personal touch to our understanding of their operations.”
This year’s conference featured a robust lineup of sessions, including an ethics segment, updates from the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), legislative updates, and Local Government Commission (LGC) insights. A standout session, “Lead Like You Mean It,” offered valuable lessons in personal development.
Networking was a key component of the three-day event, with over 30 vendors present and numerous opportunities for attendees to connect and share insights. Ko Tang capitalized on these opportunities, further strengthening our firm’s relationships within the finance community.
We extend our gratitude to the GFOA for organizing another successful spring conference. We look forward to continuing our engagement with the finance community at the upcoming summer conference in July 2024 in Wilmington, NC.
