The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has recently updated the online tool to track information regarding stimulus checks and direct deposits. Potential recipients can go online at www.irs.gov and click on the link “ Get My Payment ” for updated information concerning stimulus benefits. Taxpayers will need their social security number, date of birth, and mailing address on their tax return to track the status of stimulus payments. In addition, recipients can add their bank account information with the IRS in order to expedite the stimulus payments. To accomplish this, taxpayers will need their adjusted gross income from their most recent tax return from either 2019 or 2018, the refund or amount owed from their latest filed tax return, and their bank account type, account and routing numbers. If taxpayers applied their overpayment of prior year’s refund to the subsequent year then they must enter zero for the amount refunded.
If you have questions about this process, please read the Frequently Asked Questions on the IRS site.
